Postpartum & Maternal Care in Newport Beach

Postpartum is more than a moment in time. Your health continues to evolve long after your baby arrives — from recovery and hormones to energy, mood, sleep, and feeling like yourself again. At Solace, you have a physician who knows you and can support your health through this season and beyond.

You just did something extraordinary. Your care should reflect that.

After giving birth, your body undergoes profound hormonal, physical, and emotional changes. Sleep deprivation, anxiety, mood shifts, physical recovery, and the demands of a newborn all happen at once. However, many patients are seen briefly, checked off a list, and sent home without real answers.

Dr. Khan founded Solace in part because of what she experienced as a new mother.

Membership with Solace means postpartum support that continues for as long as you need it — not a single follow-up visit at six weeks. Care can address the changes that come with this new season of life, from sleep, mood, and hormonal shifts to nutrition, physical recovery, energy, and overall health.

The goal is to help you feel well, function at your best, and make sure your health continues to be cared for while so much of your attention is focused on your baby.

Becoming a mother changed the way I understand postpartum care. I realized how much it matters to have a physician you trust, who knows you, and who is there as you navigate this new season of life.

Comprehensive care for every part of the postpartum experience

  • C-section and vaginal delivery recovery, pelvic pain, urinary leakage, painful sex, abdominal weakness, diastasis recti, and returning safely to exercise. When needed, we can coordinate pelvic floor physical therapy or additional evaluation.

  • Persistent fatigue, postpartum hair loss, weight changes, nutrient deficiencies, thyroid concerns, and feeling physically unlike yourself after pregnancy. We can evaluate symptoms, review nutrition and medications, and use targeted lab testing when appropriate.

  • Postpartum anxiety and depression, irritability, overwhelm, intrusive thoughts, and sleep concerns. Mental health is part of your overall health, and we can discuss treatment options, medication when appropriate, and additional support.

  • Breastfeeding concerns, nutrition while nursing, medication safety, weaning, contraception, menstrual changes, sexual health, and the transition back to your long-term preventive care. Your health continues to matter well beyond the six-week postpartum visit.

Why should postpartum care continue beyond the six-week visit?

Recovery doesn’t end after six weeks. Hormonal changes, sleep deprivation, mental health, breastfeeding, nutrition, exercise, and chronic medical conditions often continue evolving throughout the first year after childbirth.

Is it normal to still feel exhausted months after having a baby?

Fatigue is common after childbirth, but persistent exhaustion may also be related to anemia, thyroid disorders, nutritional deficiencies, postpartum mood disorders, or other treatable medical conditions.

How do I know if what I’m feeling is postpartum anxiety or depression?

Feeling overwhelmed occasionally is common during the postpartum period. However, persistent anxiety, sadness, hopelessness, intrusive thoughts, or difficulty enjoying daily life deserve medical attention and support.

Motherhood changes you. Your healthcare should change with you.
